Cherry blossoms, hopeful symbols of spring’s return, will fill the Meuse Gallery in St. Helena with the opening of “Simon Bull: Sakura: The Cherry Blossom Tree". The show will run from March 20th to April 25th. An opening reception, on Saturday, March 20th, is from 4 PM to 7 PM. with an artist’s talk at 5 PM. COVID-19 safety precautions will be observed.
The exhibition showcases Simon Bull's most recent additions to his Cherry Blossom series. This new work is characterized by a luscious application of pink paint, punctuated by dark, curvilinear boughs that traverse the boundaries of figuration and abstraction. Bull’s paintings depict cherry blossom trees in luxuriant and profuse bloom, rendering them at once elegant and bold.
