Simon Bull's solo exhibition will run November 14th – December 31st 2020 with an opening reception on Saturday, November 14th from 4:00pm – 7:00pm with an artist talk and raffel of an original Simon Bull painting at 5:30PM. Wine provided by Theorem Winery. 15% of all sales donated to the California Wildfire Relief Fund.
This new collection of paintings titled Beauty from Ashes is the artist’s visual response to the dramatic, fire-filled skies of Northern California. These atmospheric works are characterized by sweeping swaths of red, orange and yellow that exemplify the landscape when it is infused with blistering fire and ominous smoke. With an alchemist’s approach, Bull’s studio practice of pouring and blending paints of different viscosities and textures, imbues the finished works with a colorful and dramatic intensity that characterizes Northern California’s landscape when it is cloaked in fire.
