For this collaborative event at Simon Bull’s private painting studio in Monterey, a cast of 3 dancers (Ariel Clarke, Katherine Lingle, and Anthony Pucci) will perform a new contemporary dance piece titled “In Awe (of the Everyday)” set to Peteris Vasks’s Castillo Interior for cello and violin and Nils Frahm’s Them for piano. Carmel Dance Festival commissioned Stanford Professor and Guggenheim Fellow Alex Ketley to choreograph this piece in January and to rework the piece so that it incorporates live painting by Simon Bull.
The ticketed performance will begin at 6:00 pm on Saturday, May 13th at Simon Bull’s private painting studio in Monterey. Tickets are $150 and include Chalone Vineyard wine, charcuterie, and mingling with the artist and the dancers. Exact location will be disclosed to ticket holders.
